Sculpture “In Flagella Paratus Sum”

Scultura “In Flagella Paratus Sum”

The sculpture “In Flagella Paratus Sum” by famous artist and sculptor Jago is born as a reclining, vulnerable body carved in Nero Cattani® marble, becoming a universal symbol of those who cross the sea in search of salvation.

The artwork truly travelled aboard the Ocean Viking ship of SOS Mediterranée, gaining an even deeper, more human meaning.

During an exhibition it was vandalised: instead of erasing the wound, the artist chose to make it part of the message, “integrating” it with Bianco Cattani ®marble from the same quarry. The contrast between black and white is not decoration – it is language, telling a story of welcome and rebirth.

Displayed in iconic locations such as the Stadio Olimpico and Ponte Sant’Angelo, the work brings art into dialogue with crucial social themes. A sculpture that transforms material into awareness and beauty into responsibility.

Marble tells what we cannot ignore.
